TKE Headquarters Mural ATL

So fresh and so clean.
TKE HEADQUARTERS MURAL

Took two weeks of hard work but I completed this awesome mural for the TKE Headquarters at the Battery. Thanks to the folks at TKE, Gensler and ArtistADay for this opportunity. The mural shows some of the great things about Atlanta with a large ATL spanning the entire piece. There will be TV’s on the wall and this was designed to gives large movement and attention even with TVs added to the wall. I used every trick in my book for this one. There are photos of the process below and leave a comment if you have any questions like… “What the hell are you doing there?”

HOW IT STARTED

I started with all the brand requirements and colors and designed a mural on illustrator. Then, began measuring every background square out on the wall from my rendering. This took a little bit of precision and time. I needed the background squares to be perfect size, so that later elements of the mural would fit in. After everything was penciled in on the wall, I began to tape off and paint the various colors. (The color orange sucks - took five coats to make it orange)

HOW IT’S GOING

I created all the elements for the mural either by hand or on the computer. After they were created, I used a large vinyl cutter to enlarge the design and use as a one-time stencil. Coating, bleed coating then coating again.

HOW’D YOU DO THAT

I wasn’t sure what how I was going o pull this part off until I got to it. The room was too small to project the design, so. used a few well placed stencils to connect and draw the ATL across the mural.

To pull off the gradient… I leave that a secret.
