TINDELMICHI BIO

John Tindel and Michi are TindelMichi. Two fat southern boys that paint. We are a Southern Contemporary collaborative. TindelMichi has transcended and avoided the monotonous monologue and aesthetic of the typical contemporary art provided by our formal training. By applying creative prowess to ballsy concepts and a clever amalgamation of styles, design, and humor; we have transformed the mere artist collaboration into a monumental celebration of Southern culture and tradition. It's simple but fancy.

Our canvases and conceptual installations combine Ivy League suburban intellect, street scholasticism with southern charm and grace. We have developed a visual vocabulary that has influences in rural culture, advertising, typography, graphic design, abstraction, folk and pop art and an unconscious hint of graffiti.

Being southern boys, we realize the importance of preserving culture, history, and a way of life. We have three primary goals in our quest. First, we want to introduce the gallery folk to TindelMichi as artist, the TindelMichi brand, and the obsessive creative behaviors of two artists that live in a creative collaboration. Second, TindelMichi wants to give praise to our southern up bringing and way of life. Therefore, celebrating a regions choice to keep things simple and at a moderate pace. Further examining how southerners and the south fit into today's modern world. ; A world where we have to be connected in every possible way. We will always merge the look and taste of the old south with the new south's urban fascination. It will always be FRESH. Third, we want to explore our complex simplicity and the idea of Southern Hospitality. While asking why other regions fall short to the south's kindness, our deep involvement with family and ritual, the local tradition, and pulling together to make things work? As a region, this is who we are and what we do, as artist this is TindelMichi.
